Modifiers
The use of modifiers in Giak is very simple. All modifiers immediately follow the word they modify. This is backwards from typical English usage in the case of adjectives. Adjectives usually precede the modified word in English. Some translations from English to pseudo-Giak:
- red hammer -> hammer red
- weak human -> human weak
- old barracks -> barracks old
Adverbs also follow the verb, adjective or adverb modified. An important adverb is 'naog' which is used to negate the word modified:
- Ok narg naog orgadak. -> I am not a human.
- Kordak narg zut naog. -> The sergeant isn't wrong.
- Zegora gaj tagog naog. -> Giaks die not fast. (Giaks die slowly.)
Predicate Adjectives
Predicate adjectives act just like they do in English; just use the verb 'narg'.
- Ok narg ekig.
- Egud narg stuzor.
- Jogg narg jet.
Sentence Structure
So the sentence structure that we have built so far is: ([interrogatory] / subject [modifier] / predicate / [direct object [modifier] , predicate nominative [modifier] , predicate adjective]). The comma seperated list states that you may choose at most one of the options.
- The soft human takes a big drink. -> Orgadak zendod gag gajog gudjag.
- Why does the orange enemy see me? -> ¿ Ka gaz stak zee ok ?
