[Getting the Books] [Legends Series] [IRC] [Joe Dever]
- Q: Are there any books beyond The Curse of Naar?
- A: Yes. At the time of this writing, we're up to #28. (See Getting the Books)
- Q: Where can I get books beyond The Curse of Naar in the US?
- A: Practically nowhere. Berkeley (the US publisher) is not planning to publish anything beyond The Curse of Naar. You will be unable to get these books from retail stores unless they will order from overseas wholesalers. You must use other means to obtain these books. (See Getting the Boooks)
- Q: Will they ever be published in the US?
- A: Probably not. There is some hope, however slim, that when the copyrights revert to Joe Dever in October 1998 that he'll be able to negotiate with a new publisher. (See the Joe Dever Interview)
- Q: I can't find Magnamund Companion / Buccaneers of Shadaki. Where can I get it?
- A: Join the crowd *wink*. There's nowhere that I know of to find these items. Sorry, you're on your own. If you don't mind reading it in French, I know that at present (26 March 1999) chapitre.com has copies of Buccanneers of Shadaki. (See Getting the Books)
- Q: What is the Legends of Lone Wolf series?
- A: It is the novelization of the gamebook series. It gives detailed information about the stories behind each of the gamebooks up to Jungle of Horrors. It was written by Paul Barnett (aka John Grant) and edited by Joe Dever. Only those books covering Flight from the Dark to Caverns of Kalte were published in the US.
- Q: Where can I get the Legends books?
- A: All of the Legends are out-of-print so you won't be able to find them in new-book stores. Your best chance is with used-book stores and online rare-book searches. (See Getting the Books) Keep in mind that only five books were published in the US and all twelve were published in the UK.
- Q: Are there any IRC channels devoted to Lone Wolf?
- A: Yes. There is one that I am aware of: #Kaiwisdom on DALnet. Dominus Aurorae ( the one who registered the channel ) says that he's usually on IRC at 11:30 PM to 8:30 AM Eastern time. ( GMT -5:00 ) If you know of others, please let me know.
- Q: Do you know how to contact Joe Dever?
- A: Yes.
- Q: Can you give me Joe's e-mail address?
- A: Unfortunately, no. When he gave me his address, he asked me to not give it out. Understandably, he's very busy with several ongoing projects and would be unable to respond to everyone's messages. If you haven't already, read the interview with Joe Dever. Gavin Gallot also has another interview.
- Q: Would you send him a message about ____ ?
- A: Perhaps. I don't want to be some sort of gatekeeper denying access; but, that is the role that fate has handed me when you come down to it, whether I like it or not. I will send messages of general interest but not personal messages. If you'd like to send a personal message, I have set aside a space in Dever's Corner that you can add a testimonial to Joe's work.
